Soul Winning

If you're not soul-winning, then your soul-losing.

Romans 10:15, “And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”

The Bible says that the feet of those who preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ are beautiful. Not only your Pastor but, This speaks of the Soul Winner. Proverb 11:30, "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise."

It is interesting that God calls the "feet" beautiful. God could have called the lips beautiful, or the mouth; but he said, "the feet." Why the feet? It's because it is with one's feet that they carry the Gospel of Jesus Christ to souls who are lost.

The most eloquent speaker in all the world is useless if he has idle feet. The most charming person, who may possess a great wealth of Bible knowledge, is useless if he or she is unwilling to take the message of Christ crucified to a lost and dying world. The prize goes to the Soul Winner who brings the Good News of Christ crucified and risen, to the lost of this world.

Jesus confronted the Samaritan woman in John 4:7-26 with the Gospel. God told Philip to confront the Ethiopian Eunuch with the Gospel in Acts 8:29. In Mark 16:15, Jesus said, "GO ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."
Sadly, very few believers today are Soul Winners. The reason why is because very few Churches and Church pastors and leaders teach and preach about the eternal everlasting punishment of Hell anymore.

Without compassion to reach out in Love because people are dying and going to Hell, there is no burden, and without a burden for lost souls, there is no since of urgency," Today is the Day of Salvation"

It's as if it's just about us or just our family, my 4 and no more. Well me and my spouse are saved and so are our children. Dear friend, that is wonderful if you can say that "praise the Lord for His saving grace."
However someone, somewhere had a burden and you heard the Gospel and responded to it and were saved because of it.
Pay it forward, people need to know, so tell it wherever you go.

The Mission

There's a call going out Across the land in every nation
A call to those who swear allegiance to the cross of Christ
A call to true humility, to live our lives responsibly
To deepen our devotion to the cross at any price

Let us then be sober, moving only in the Spirit
As aliens and strangers in a hostile foreign land
The message we're proclaiming is repentance and forgiveness
The offer of salvation to a dying race of man

To love the Lord our God Is the heartbeat of our mission
The spring from which our service overflows
Across the street Or around the world
The mission's still the same
Proclaim and live the Truth In Jesus' name

Biblical Mandate to be a Soul winner

Although there is a call to leadership within a church, there is not the same call to be a Soul Winner. This is a call to Every believer, and every believer is commanded to preach the Gospel.
Proverb 11:30 "says a man who winneth souls is wise."
Man, Woman, Boy or Girl.
The word To preach....... is to urge acceptance of an idea, or course of action, to bring, to putforth, to deliver, to advocate earnestly.
The believer who fails to share the Gospel with others is unwise or foolish. Again the Bible says, the one who winneth souls is wise.
Hell is real, life is short, and people need to be born-again to escape the wrath of God (John 3:36; Romans 5:9; 2nd Thessalonians 1:8-9).

Philippians 2:15-16 "we the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;" .... "Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

If You have done nothing for God to point others to his Son Jesus. There is no rejoicing in Heaven in the presence of the angels (Luke 15:10), therefore no one is getting saved on your watch, because you have not told anyone about Jesus, how you got saved and how they can be saved too.

" The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the Word of Life" (Ephesians 1:13).

The sad truth is there are many, most in fact, religious and charitable organizations in the world today which couldn't care less about preaching the Gospel (i.e., the good news) of Jesus Christ Him crucified, buried, risen. That Jesus is the Son of God, The Christ (John 20:31). By faith we become the children of God (Galatians 3:26). And that It is Jesus' precious literal blood that washes our sins away (1st John 1:7; Hebrews 9:12; Revelation 1:5)

God help us from the apostate religious groups that are doing more harm, than good to the cause of Christ. The main cause of Christ is people being saved.
America doesn't need more churches, what it needs is that the churches that are to be filled with people who are serious about the Savior and just can't wait to get out the church door so they can go tell someone just how wonderful Jesus is and what he can do for them, how he loves them and want's a personal relationship with them. "YES" America doesn't need more churches. America needs SOUL-WINNERS!!! In Mark 1:17 Jesus said He would make His disciples to become "fishers of men."

2nd Corinthians 5:10 teaches that every believer will give account to God at The Judgment Seat of Christ, for the good AND the bad done in our earthly body. The next verse says, "Knowing therefore the TERROR OF THE LORD, we persuade men..." This Scripture is seldom preached about. God is going to judge each believer concerning the effort they spend, or failed to spend, to get lost people saved through the Gospel of Christ. 1st Corinthians 3:7-8 plainly teaches that God will give EVERY believer his OWN reward, according to his OWN labour.

The very notion that Jesus only intended for His Apostles to preach the Gospel, or called pastors today, is unbiblical. The Bible never says that only ministers are to preach the Gospel. The Gospel is truth and Ephesians 4:25 says, "speak every man truth with his neighbour." People need to hear about the Lord and how to be saved. Proverb 14:25, "A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies."

Laying Up Treasures in Heaven

Hell is a literal place that burns with fire. Revelation 21:8 speaks about the "second death" and the "lake which burns with fire and brimstone." Why would God only want Christian preachers and leaders to preach the Gospel, when even a child can share the good news of Christ crucified with others?
It is our heart's desire for you to become a Soul Winner, that others may be saved, and that you may "lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal" (Matthew 6:20).
What a wonderful investment opportunity!
We hear so much advertising on TV these days about premiere investment opportunities, in real estate, gold, so on and so forth;
but the only eternal investment you can make is by laying up treasures in Heaven by serving God.

The greatest treasures of all in Heaven, will be the souls of those who were saved through our soulwinning efforts. Certainly, we cannot save anybody, but we can point them to the one and only who can save them, Christ Jesus, for today is the day of salvation and salvation is of the Lord; God uses all that are yielded Christians as a vehicle by which the Gospel is shared and preached unto the lost across the street, or across the world (1st Corinthians 3:6-8). This is why God calls the Soul Winner's feet, "beautiful."

Every Christian blood bought, born again believer is commanded by God to preach the Gospel. How do you preach the Gospel? By simply telling someone how you got saved. It's that simple. We are SINNERS and Jesus is the SAVIOR. Salvation happens when a person acknowledges their guilt of sin, and comes to God on that basis; believing on Jesus, the Christ, the Son of God, to forgive them of their sins (Acts 10:43).

Salvation is as simple as walking through a door. Jesus said in John 10:9, "I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture."

Also, consider in the Gospel of Luke 8:11-15,
The Parable of the Sower... (The seed is the word of God)

"And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience." (Luke 8:14-15)

Jesus said that he who has "an honest and good heart" obeys the Scriptures and brings forth much fruit. This again speaks of the Soul Winner. A believer who loves Jesus Christ, and understands that eternal punishment awaits all Christ-rejecters in Hell, will be moved by compassion and will have a burden for lost souls.
There is not enough teaching and preaching of eternal punishment and Hell from today's church pulpits. Consequently, few believers have a burden for lost souls anymore, and so few believers go soulwinning. The Bible plainly teaches that the seeds which fell upon good ground became Soul Winners.

You don't need to attend a religious seminary in order to be a Soul Winner. You just need to know how you got saved yourself. Most people think they have to DO something to merit Heaven; but the Bible says it's all DONE, by Jesus' work of redemption. Salvation is ceasing from our own self-righteous works, and resting in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ on the cross.

Most professed Christians today have ugly feet, because they have no burden for lost souls, and fail to take the Gospel to those who desperately need it.
We challenge you, whoever you may be, to have beautiful feet.
Philippians 2:15-16, "That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; HOLDING FORTH THE WORD OF LIFE; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain."

There are several reasons

why a soul-winner is wise:

1) Soul-winning work is lasting - If Michelangelo used his talents to create sand-sculptures on the beach instead of marble, none of his masterpieces would be standing today. Every human achievement and reward has to be left behind when we leave this world. But our soul-wining efforts wrought in the souls of man last forever.

2) Soul-winning work glorifies God - All of God's creation glorifies Him but none glorifies Him as much as a new creature made in the image of God.

3) Soul-winning saves souls from hell - There is no nobler occupation than plucking souls from hell and transporting them safely to heaven.

4) Soul-winning is the most satisfying work - Even if we are utterly self-seeking, soul-winning is the best occupation of all because there are few joys to match seeing a soul get saved. The difficulties and agonies of soul-winning cannot be compared to its joys.

5) Soul-winning requires wisdom - He that winneth souls is wise. If a person were not wise, he would be occupied with other matters. Furthermore, if a person were not wise, he would not be an effective soul-winner because effective soul-winning requires much wisdom (which God freely gives to those who desire to be effective, JAM 1:5).

The Art of Winning Souls: The word "win" in this verse is often used in reference to warfare, eg. capturing a city. The commander requires much wisdom and skill to know what weapons to use, where the weak spots in the city-walls are, what speed and intensity of attack to use, etc. Similarly, the effective soul-winner requires to have much wisdom (from God) and skill (from training and practice).

The word "win" is also often used in reference to wrestling matches. A wrestler struggles to breakdown the defenses of his opponent. The moment he overcomes one, his opponent uses another to defend himself. A good wrestler struggles on until he overcomes his opponents' defenses. When a soul-winner shares the Gospel, there is resistance from Satan, prejudice, love of sin, pride, unbelief, despair, etc. An effective soul-winner does not quit easily because he realizes the nature of his work.

Winning "wars" and "wrestling matches" are part of soul-winning work. However, there is another kind of winning that is vital, namely, that of winning a heart. A soul-winners' skill and diligence will be totally ineffective, if he fails to win the listeners' heart. We need Christ's heart of love as we sympathize with his plight, plead with him, are concerned with his eternal destiny and pray for him fervently.

Conclusion: God's purpose for each of us and for our church is that we will win souls and glorify Him. Every believer has the desire and the ability to be soul-winners because "Christ lives in us" (GAL 2:20). Let us be trained to be effective soul-winners.
